• Over 20 steam engines from all over the country participated in the Trevithick Parade in 2022.
• It is estimated that 25,000 to 30,000 visitors attended the Camborne Trevithick Day parade.
• Richard Trevithick finished his locomotive engine in 1801. On Christmas Eve, Trevithick, his cousin Andrew Vivian, and several friends rode the steam engine up the Camborne Hill. Called the Puffing Devil, the steam engine remains a iconic part of Trevithick Day.
• Trevithick invented an improved type of steam boiler known as the Cornish boiler. It featured a single flue and was capable of withstanding high pressure, making it more efficient and safer than previous designs.
• In 1804, he built the first steam-powered locomotive that ran on rails, called the Penydarren locomotive. The locomotive successfully hauled 10 tons of iron and 70 passengers over nine miles, marking another milestone in steam-powered transportation.
• In 1801, Trevithick built the world's first successful steam-powered road vehicle, called the Puffing Devil. This vehicle was an early steam-powered car that could carry several passengers.
